CNE Adult Workforce Diploma Program FAQ

• This program is 100% free. There is no cost for students. We are a non-profit. Our funding comes from the State of Ohio Department of Education.

• This program is open to all Ohio adults 18 years of age or older. There is no age limit for participation.

The program requires 3 forms and 3 documents for Enrollment. In order to give you credit for any courses you passed in school, we also need to get your High School transcript.

• You can request your transcript from the last school you attended. Or, if you prefer, we can request your transcript for you. If the school you attended has closed or no longer exists, the local school district will often have access to your transcript. If your transcript is not available, has been lost or if you never attended High School and don’t have a transcript, that does not prevent you from enrolling in the program.

Students must complete two of the following three Work Related Requirements to earn a Diploma through this program.

1. Earn a State Approved Career Credential or Certificate.

The State provides a list of “Industry Recognized Credentials” that will qualify you to meet this requirement. We provide two options for students to satisfy this requirement 100% online, at no cost.

A. One option is for students to qualify as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA). The CDCA is an entry-level credential that allows individuals to provide substance use disorder counseling under clinical supervision. To gain this Certification, students complete 6 Online courses, pass an Online Ethics course and get a Background Check at any Ohio BMV office.

B. The second option is for students to earn an Electric Vehicle Fundamentals credential (EVF). The EVF is focused on the fundamentals of electric vehicles and provides a starting point for career pathways in the EV industry.

2. Qualify for the OhioMeansJobs-Readiness Seal

Students demonstrate specific professional skills required for success in the workplace. Students must work with at least three experienced and trusted mentors who validate the demonstration of these skills in school, work or the community.

3. Perform 250 Hours of Work-Based Learning

Students are required to complete 250 hours of qualifying work-based learning (WBL), internships, apprenticeships, or career-connected volunteer experiences.

The two Career Credential/Certificate options mentioned above (1A and 1B) are what we are able to make available to our students at no cost. Either can be completed 100% Online.

If you already have a Career Certificate or Credential, particularly in the Construction, IT, Healthcare or Manufacturing industries, contact us to see if your Certificate/Credential already meets the State’s requirement for Graduation.

There are other Certificates/Credentials that meet the State’s requirement, and may be more aligned with your choice of careers. You are welcome to pursue one of these if you prefer, but this is not something we offer. These options often require some in-person attendance, an additional out-of-pocket cost and may take a significant amount of time to complete.

• Yes, Clermont Northeastern High School is fully accredited.

• There are no set class meeting times. Students proceed through coursework at their own pace, and at any days and times that work best for their schedule.

This will be different for each student, and depends on a few factors:

1. Some students start the program only needing a course or two to fulfill the State’s requirement for Graduation. Other students need many more courses, so it will take them longer to finish their credit requirement.
2. Some students may have more free time to work on the program compared to others. Students who are working full time and/or have kids may not be able to devote as much time to the program compared to students who have more time available.
3. The time it takes to complete the two Work-Related requirements may be different for each student. This will depend on which requirements you choose to fulfill, if you are working during the program, and if so, how many hours per week you are working.

Once we know how many courses you need, which two Work-Related requirements you plan to pursue and understand your work situation we will be able to give you a much better idea of how long it may take to complete the program.

• Yes. Our instructors are available to meet with students to provide help. Meetings are usually set up Online or over the phone. Instructors can also respond to questions via email.

• No. Through this program, students earn an actual Diploma, not a GED.

• Unfortunately, no. The State will not award a Diploma through this program to anyone who already has a GED.

• Your Diploma is approved by the State of Ohio and will be issued by Clermont Northeastern High School.

• Yes, we have two Graduation Ceremonies per year. These take place in West Chester, Ohio, which is outside of Cincinnati. Many of our graduates choose to participate, but attendance is not required to get your Diploma.

• No, sorry, we are not able to provide computers for our students. But all of our Online Coursework is formatted so that it can be done on a Smartphone. While this may not be as convenient compared to a Tablet or Laptop, we have had many students complete the entire program using only their phones.
